2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Cliff Springston is a 2005 LHP/OF from Bruceville, TX. We’ve previously listed Springston as a pitching prospect, and even had him at the Perfect Game National as a primary pitcher. However, it is debatable if he is a better pitcher or position prospect at this time. Springston is a first class athlete who could develop into a big time prospect as an outfielder. His 6'2", 175 lb. very projectable body is still a plus because Springston is already showing above average power potential and he can get much stronger. The ball really jumps off his bat and he has natural loft and extension to his swing. Springston also shows the ability to be a top notch defender. He’s a 6.8 runner underway (4.31 to first base) who showed instincts and a close to big league average throwing arm from right field. We’ve seen Springston at 87 mph off the mound from the left side. In Waco, he threw 81-83 mph. He is still a highest level college lefty. Cliff is a good student..
