Colby Shreve is a 2006 third baseman/right handed pitcher from Bonanza HS in Las Vegas, NV, with a 6'4", 190 lb. frame. Shreve was named to the Top Prospect Team from the event. Shreve is a two-way prospect that will play at the next level. He hits from an upright and slightly open stance with very good bat speed, Shreve gets good leverage in his swing and the ball jumps off his bat with present raw power. He is also a patient hitter with a good knowledge of the strike zone, and has good hands and uses the whole field. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and hides the ball well. Shreve stays balanced over the rubber and finished his pitches well. His fastball topped out at 85 mph, and he mixed in a sharp breaking ball with late bite at 73 mph. He uses both sides of the plate with good control, and changes speeds well showing good pitchability. Defensively he has a quick arm with good third baseman actions, and good range. Shreve is a true two-way prospect that must be followed. He is also a very good student.
