2024 WWBA Workout Showcase (July 5)
Cole Bowman is a 2027 C/1B with a 6-1 212 lb. frame from Oak Ridge, NC who attends Wesleyan Christian Academy. Large frame with present muscularity, plenty of functional strength and moving well on his feet, showing all around athleticism. Ran the 60 yard dash in a solid 6.84 seconds. Primary position catcher, showing on point footwork, gaining ground in transition using a game like initial setup. Clean glove work and nice midline transfer leading to short release and accurate feeds to the bag. Solid present arm strength reaching 78 mph with more to come. Complete skillset for a guy that can stick behind the dish longterm. Reps at 1B as well, working the glove out front with two-handed deeper gather and showed familiarity around the bag. Clean feeds with throws up to 83 mph and handled the slow roller with good dexterity. Switch hitter, starting open and balanced with a high handset and high back elbow from the right side. Hands work the barrel through the zone with whip, squaring the ball up to the pull side. Squared one up with natural loft, hitting it deep into the trees. From the left side, similar initial setup with more natural lift and gets on plane with ease. Real leverage here, loud round with a lot of barrels. Projectable power from both sides, the look of an offensive catcher longterm. Outstanding student as well.
