Matthew Chin is a 2027 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B, MIF, UT with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Mount Sinai, NY who attends Mount Sinai. Medium, high waisted frame with plenty of time and room to fill out. Recorded a 7.32 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with a fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Showed some bounce in his step, proper footwork to get to the right spots and a clean funnel out in-front. Displayed lateral range to either side and the ability to change arm slots when necessary. Recorded accurate throws up to 74 mph across the diamond with more arm strength coming soon. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with deliberate pace and sound lower half engagement down the slope. Fastball worked in the 73-77 mph range for the majority of his outing, ticking up in certain situations and peaked at 79 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower with developing command of all four quadrants, showed the ability to manipulate speed and shape to slurve shaped breaking ball. Will continue to improve with minor mechanical refinements and additional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a slightly open base with tight hands and a small stride into launch. Rotational lower half mechanics with plenty of intent involved in his swing. Gap-to-gap approach with some impact when on-time and budding power potential that will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Fundamentally sound prospect with two-way upside and plenty of projection remaining. Named to the 13/14U Fall Northeast Top Prospect List.
