Joseph Martin is a 2018 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 177 lb. frame from Comfort, TX who attends Comfort High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with strength throughout frame. Primary lefthanded pitcher, begins delivery with a simple side step moving into a leg lift just above belt, gets tall on backside with a short stride down the mound. Full hands over head at start, lands slightly closed with strike foot, shorter and quick arm action through the back; creates angle at release and works on top of the ball nicely. Fastball topped out at 86 mph, flashed short running life when down in the zone and successfully challenged hitters up in the zone, maintained velocity out of stretch. Consistent feel for curveball with 2-8 shape up to 72 mph, locates it well and repeats release well with short depth through the zone, occasional sweeping finish. Nice pick off move and showed nice body control. Two-way potential, quick routes in the outfield and covered ground, fields the ball out front, short and quick arm action with up-tempo mechanics. Strong arm from first base up to 90 mph, fields out front with similar short arm action through the back, nice athleticism off the bag. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Occasionally creates a downward path but shows a feel for the barrel and jump coming off when squared with line drive contact to the middle of the field; covers the plate well with present bat speed.
