Channing Austin is a 2020 3B/MIF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Brooklyn, NY who attends Poly Prep Country Day. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and high waist, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 5.26 40-yard dash. Primary infielder, takes long strides moving towards the ball, fields the ball out front, extra steps prior to release, glove plays well at the backhand, ball comes out of hand cleanly and throws from a lower arm slot, arm strength will continue to develop moving forward. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open and narrow stance, coils at top of swing and comes out of it well with solid torque through lower half. Generates very nice bat speed, especially for grad year, shows quickness to hands, looks to elevate at point of contact. Works mostly to the pull side now but drives through the ball and projects nicely with physical gains. Very good student.
