Joe Wozny is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Lake Grove, NY who attends The Stony Brook School. Strong, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned nicely throughout frame. Primary righthanded pitcher, full hand path at start of mechanics with an up-tempo pace; abbreviated windup with moving parts and energy, drop and drive lower half mechanics, stays on line towards the plate. Full arm action working to a three-quarters release, on top of fastball well and topped out at 89 mph with downhill plane. Repeats well and lived down in the zone with fastball, mostly true with short running life and induces ground ball contact. Mixed in an 11-5 shaped curveball up to 75 mph, best bite when thrown at harder velocities and helped keep hitters off balance. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Upper body dominant swing with subtle shift and simple stride into contact. Stays short to the ball and keeps hands inside throughout swing, incorporates strength, linear to downward plane, can continue to implement additional lower half into swing. Very good student.
