Brendan Roney is a 2020 C/2B/3B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Cudjoe Key, FL who attends Key West HS. Recorded a 7.18 second 60-yard dash time. Solid athleticism and strength throughout the frame. Primary catcher with an easy and sure set up. Soft hands, gains ground well, and transitions at a high level. Throws topped out at 76 mph with a best pop time of 1.93 seconds. Actions, arm speed, and athleticism play nicely up the middle in the infield too. Righthanded hitter with a wide base, high hand set, and a high back elbow. Plenty of righthanded bat speed with a line drive approach. Level, repeatable, and well timed swing. Works gap to gap with some polish and maturity to the approach. Has some pop too and projects very nicely. Named to the 2018 Main Event Top Prospect List. Verbal commitment to Boston College. Good student.
