Caleb Hernandez is a 2028 SS/RHP, MIF, OF with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Doral Academy Charter. Medium, lean frame and can project more strength in the coming years. 7.12 runner in the sixty-yard dash. Right-handed hitter, medium base with a high back elbow in the stance, natural leverage to the stroke with easy strength at impact. Obvious bat speed with whip to the barrel in the zone, was on the barrel all BP and in game action. Primary shortstop, has a bounce to the actions with clean footwork working around the baseball, takes quality angles and hands work well, quick exchanges and solid feel for internal clock. Gets the ball across with carry out of the hand and accuracy, recorded throws up to 88 mph. Secondary right-handed pitcher, short side step into a belt high leg lift, free and loose arm action in the back to a high 3/4 release point. Generates arm-side life to the fastball that sat in the 82-84 range (2100 RPM) and turned over some quality changeups that he could add/subtract too, up to 74 mph (1021 RPM). Also worked out behind the plate, narrow base, solid receiver and gains ground towards the bag, quick arm action and gets it out quick with arm strength, recorded throws up to 77 mph on the bag and a pop-time of 2.08. Great student.
