Varin Verma is a 2025 RHP/2B, 3B, SS with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Elk Grove, CA who attends Pleasant Grove. Features a bigger frame with some strength within. Primary right-handed pitcher. Utilizes a slight drop and drive delivery with moderate effort throughout. Short stride slightly hinders ability to use lower half to its full potential. Ball stays hidden fairly well throughout a short arm swing out of an overhead slot. The fastball sat 71-75 mph with some life through the zone. Arm slot creates a solid downhill angle at the bottom of the zone. Has the ability to throw the offering for strikes often. Pairs it with a curveball at 64-68 mph. Flashed the ability to create bite that can generate swing and miss. Also flashed a mid-50’s knuckleball sparingly. Secondary position is infield. Short arm action plays across the diamond. Footwork and range profile best at the corners. Continuing to improve fluidity throughout fielding actions will help improve consistency on the defensive side. Utilizes a narrow, slightly open setup at the plate. Uses a leg kick timing mechanism to transfer weight on the back side. Looks to drive the ball in the air to the pullside. Flashed some power that way when the barrel gets through the zone on time. Ran an 8.94 60-yard.
