2024 EC Lumberjack's Workout Showcase
Alex Cheringal is a 2025 SS/2B, 3B, OF, UT with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from East Hanover, NJ who attends Hanover Park. Medium, athletic frame, some present strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 7.29 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, shows smoothness to actions on the approach and working through the ball, works behind it nicely and shows lateral range, shorter arm stroke coming through and into release but shows accuracy with some present strength on to first base, repeats actions and makes the plays. Also pitched; leg lift up above belt following a big rock step, longer arm action through the back working to an over-the-top release point. Effort at release and throws with intent, high lead arm coming down the mound, fastball topped out at 80 mph and showed comfort landing a 12-6 curveball with late biting life in the mid-60s. Also showcased some running life on changeup to the arm side up to 73 mph. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open base and a hand set pushed away from body; utilizes a toe tap for timing in the box. Shows nice present quickness to hands and does a nice job of generating loft in the swing plane. Nice components to swing and projects well moving forward, 86 mph exit velocity in testing, showed consistent impact to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Excellent student.
