Tyler McCafferty is a 2027 RHP/3B with a 6-2 197 lb. frame from Sterling, IL who attends Sterling. Long and tall athletic build with lots of room to get stronger. 7.95 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, showing a clean release and workable actions with enough feel to keep throws on time and on line from a ¾ slot. At third base, similar length and actions with steady hands and developing arm strength that projects as the body continues to mature. On the mound, right-handed pitcher works from the wind-up with a sidestep and leg lift around the belt, creating some downhill angle from a H3/4 slot; fastball sat 78-82 with some ride and occasional cut, and the slider was 70 with slurvy shape that flashed sweep and some lateral bite. Right-handed hitter with an upright, narrow setup and a toe-tap timing trigger, showing natural bat speed and whip through contact with the ability to get to impact and drive the ball gap to gap when synced up.
