Austin Whannel is a 2031 C/MIF with a 5-4 125 lb. frame from Fairfax, IA who attends John F Kennedy. Smaller young build with lots of growing ahead of him. Primary catcher on defense, has good fundamentals for his age and a good base to grow into, has a clean hand to glove transfer and made accurate one-hop throws. Also worked out in the infield and moved well to side to side and got to his spots well, played with energy. Right handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance with an aggressive shift into contact, swings hard and showed advanced barrel control for his age, hit the ball to all fields and showed some ability to impact the ball. Named to the PG Spring Midwest Workout Showcase.Top Prospect List.
