Cooper Mengel is a 2027 2B/RHP with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Arnold, MD who attends Broadneck. Athletic young build with some present strength and more to come. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with a barrel tilt load, hits under control and repeats his load and timing well, very polished approach for his age, made consistent hard barrel contact and hits through the ball when when going mid to opposite field, projects very well as a hitter. Primary second baseman on defense, has a loose and whippy arm that is more suited for the left side of the infield, moves into his throws well and is comfortable charging the ball and throwing on the move. Also pitched and has two-way potential, works from an easy turn and throw delivery with long and loose arm action and extended 3/4's arm slot. Strike thrower with a fastball that reached 83 mph, works low in the zone with his fastball with good sink. Threw mostly fastballs, also showed a soft sweeping slider and a knuckle change that had big drop and wasn't tipped. Good athlete who is going to continue to improve in all areas. Excellent student. Named to the Coastal Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
