Ian Smith is a 2028 3B/RHP/1B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Madison, AL who attends Bob Jones. Ian ran a 7.79 Sixty Yard Dash. Primary Corner infielder with a medium athletic frame with some room for additional strength in the future. Showing a quick first step laterally to the ball Smith works a deep two handed funnel into a quicker glove to hand transfer. The throws are accurate across the diamond as he comes from a higher arm angle with developing arm strength. On the mound smith works in a hip height leg lift with a higher set hand placement throughout. He creates some rhythm with the glove side creating some extension down the slope while pushing the pace at times. The arm action is straight over the top as he commanded his pitches well to both sides of the plate. Smith mixes in a fastball that peaks at 69mph as well as a breaking ball with 12-6 shape that he is able to mix in the zone during any count. Right handed hitter with a medium length slightly open base. The bat path is short to the ball as he keeps his hands compact throughout the swing. Smith works an opposite field approach with developing bat speed through the zone.
