2024 Rocky Mountain Workout Showcase (Fri.)
Cade Hodgson is a 2027 1B/RHP/OF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Parker, CO who attends Ponderosa. A taller & lean frame and a medium build with some strength to it. Ran a 7.99 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman who worked out at the position, throwing 71 mph across the diamond. He moved around the bag with a feel for the actions and had some snatch to the hands working through it with his glove. He fielded it cleanly and let it go with a shorter and compact arm action. Also worked out as an outfielder, throwing 71 mph from the outfield as well. He fielded it off the front foot, bent at the waist, working from a three-quarters release. He stayed shorter through the back with a simple arm stroke to get the ball out on plane. Developing arm strength here. A right-handed hitter with an even base and slightly open feet. He used a toe-tap trigger working inward to contact. It was a compact stroke with direct hands, taking the barrel to it with some quickness. There was some rotation to the swing with a feel to turn through it and work pull-side. He used all fields throughout the round of BP as well. Some lift backside and harder contact working pull-side. Great student.
