2025 PG Spring Midwest Workout Showcase
Jake Clement is a 2028 C with a 5-1 115 lb. frame from Cambridge, IA. Medium frame and build with a compact look showing room to keep adding moving forward. Projectable strength. Ran a 7.47 60-yard dash. Primary catcher who works with a slightly open setup, gaining ground well while working out of the crouch. He has a shorter and compact arm action with quickness to release. He moves well out of the crouch, and he keeps throws accurate around the bag. Plenty of present arm strength with a clue for the actions. Threw 77 mph down to second with a 1.91 pop time. Also worked out on the infield, showing good feel work laterally. He fields it out in front with some accuracy and strength across the diamond. Kept throws at 82 mph with a feel to work through release. He presents the glove early and moves low to the ground. Took BP as a left-handed hitter with a slightly open frame, high hands, and a high back elbow. He showed hard turns and had a good whip to the hands. He stayed short to it with deep hands at the start, but a quick path to contact. He created some leverage and impacted in the air during his round, working mostly pull-side. Put together a good round of swings. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher, working from the wind-up with a knee-to-belt leg lift, shorter, before working down the slope. He had a longer and a full takeaway working through his three-quarters release. The arm has some whip with good speed through it. The fastball worked 76-79 mph with good arm-side life to it. He also showed a changeup working into the low-70s with low-spin and good diving fade to it. He also flipped an 11-5 shaped curveball in the mix, with good shape and depth to it. He had the breaker in the mid-60s. Plenty of long-term projection here on both sides of the ball. Excellent student. Named to 2025 Spring Midwest Workout Showcase TP List.
