Landon Young is a 2027 C/OF with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Monroe, NC who attends Piedmont. Long and lean build with lots of room to fill in and get stronger. 7.42 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, sets up square with a big forward lean into receiving, long stride into his throws, longer arm action, can become more compact as he gets stronger, developing arm strength, makes accurate soft throws. Also worked out in the outfield, was aggressive to the ball and showed good energy, fields to the back and side and has a quick transition into his throws, deep arm action in back to an over the top release slot, made accurate on-line soft throws. Right handed hitter, hits from a spread bent knee stance, has a short downhill swing, hands/upper body dominated swing, best contact was middle to opposite field. Should continue to improve in all areas with additional strength and physical maturity. Excellent student.
