2024 Summer Main Event Showcase (Tues-Wed)
Ja'Lynn Thomas is a 2026 MIF/RHP/OF with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Spring Lake, NC who attends Pine Forest. Long and lean athletic build with lots of room to get stronger. 7.25 runner in the sixty. Primary middle infielder on defense, arm works well from a lower slot with some carry, step by step foot work to the ball, third base tools and actions as he continues to grow into his body. Also worked out in the outfield with a long arm stroke and some carry on his throws. Left handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance with a high back elbow load and barrel wrap start, tends to commit early and get out front and around the ball, pull side approach, projects at the plate with additional strength and some adjustments. Took a turn on the mound, works from a full windup with a long off-line arm action and a low 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 81 mph with lots of running action. Had some feel for a sinking change up from the same lower slot, also threw a soft sweeping curveball. Good student.
