Chris Ballou is a 2008 OF/1B with a 6'2'', 170 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Houston Christian. Chris has a slender and athletic build, with room to add size. He has usable speed on the bases, and ran a 7.21 sixty during the workout. He hustles out of the box every at bat. At the plate Chris hits from a relaxed square stance, and has a short quick swing. He is a short striderwith some bat speed. He has a slight uppercut at times, and will occasionally bar his front arm. When he doesn't bar out, he has a nice quiet swing, that can produce consistent solid contact. Chris is also a very sound defensive player. He has a good approach, good insticts, and he moves well to both holes. His mechanics are good, and he makes a quick transfer and release. His top velocity across the infield was 75 mph. Chris is also a good student.
