2025 PG Sophomore National Showcase (2028 Grads)
Preston Hamelynck is a 2028 SS/RHP/OF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Clearwater, FL who attends Northside Christian. Lean young build with plenty of projection remaining. 6.76 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has soft and quick hands, funnels cleanly and has a quick exchange, plays well on the move, some young arm strength and makes good throws. Also worked out in the outfield, has bouncy and athletic actions, gets some carry from a high 3/4's release point. Right handed hitter, sets up with an open front side and a hard move into his swing, has good rhythm in his hands, has quick hands and turns over the barrel well, consistent barrel contact. Also pitched, works from a short side step delivery with a long arm in back to a high 3/4's release, repeats his mechanics well. Fastball topped out at 81 mph and was thrown for strikes. Curveball was his best pitch, thrown with confidence in any count with nice 11/5 shape and depth. Also dropped in an occasional change up. Should keep improving in all areas as he gets stronger. Very good student.
