James Perlmutter is a 2025 C with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Mississauga, ON. Features a taller build with strength present. Ran an 8.05 60-yard dash. Primary catcher. Uses a square stance behind the plate. Can gain solid ground at times. Still developing consistent footwork out of crouch. Recorded a 2.31 second pop time. Worked out on the infield. Showcased a patient approach on ground balls. Range profiles best for a corner spot. Arm strength should continue to develop. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes an even stance with a spread out base. Swings on a short, compact path. Has some quickness to the hands with feel for the barrel present. Body projects well for more power down the line. Right-handed pitcher. Uses tall and fall mechanics down the mound. Throws from a low 3/4 slot. Fastball got up to 71 mph with slight armside run. Showed the ability to locate it to both sides of the plate. Pairs it with a mid-60’s slider. Still developing consistent feel for the offering.
