Brayden Smith is a 2027 3B/RHP/SS with a 5-8 135 lb. frame from Pikeville, NC who attends Wayne School of Engineering. Slender young build. Left handed hitter, hits from a very spread stance with a simple heel turn load, stays short and simple in his swing approach, line drive swing plane, handles the barrel well with lots of solid barrel contact both in batting practice and in the games, bat speed will continue to improve with additional strength. 8.00 runner in the sixty. Primary third baseman on defense, plays too deep in the games, still developing his arm strength, showed his athleticism well at second base in the games with a nice dive and throw. Graded out higher in the outfield during drills, has an idea on his footwork and has a short and quick release while making accurate throws. Also pitched, same compact type arm action that hides the ball well, high 3/4's arm slot. Used a 50/50 mix of mid-70's fastballs and big breaking curveballs to have an effective outing, has confidence in his curveball and will throw it at any point in the count. Good student.
