Jacob Black is a 2028 C/1B/3B with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Mesa, AZ who attends Red Mountain. Features a lean, athletic build with lots of physical projection remaining. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. Primary catcher. Uses a high setup behind the plate with developing actions into release. Will stand up out of crouch at times. Throws with a short arm action release. Recorded a 2.05 pop time. Worked out at first base as well. Can make the routine play. Fields it out front into a short, quick release. Showed clean, accurate double play feeds. Reached 80 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes a narrow, upright stance with a high hand setup. Shifts weight with an early toe tap trigger. Swings on a flatter path to contact. Continuing to develop bat speed would allow for more impact at contact. Very good student.
