David Burkholder is a 2027 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Santa Barbara, CA who attends San Marcos Continuation. Features a medium sized build with some lean projection. On the mound, showed a balanced and repeatable delivery. Side steps into a straight up/down mid-chest lift. Smaller sit/drop but holds it well as he drifts down the mound. Creates avg. length and lands on-line but falls a bit off toward 3B side at finish. Arm showed a shorter stab out the back and worked up to a higher 3/4 slot. Ran the FB into the upper 70s, T80 where it exhibited a bit of running action. Mixed in 1-7 breaker that he showed feel to land and produced some whiffs. Also flashed a CH that showed more depth than fading action and produced some RHH whiffs. In the OF, showed fundamental actions. Worked with avg. quickness but keeps momentum through. Clean and out front reception. Works quick to release getting to an over the top release that got off downhill and accurate throws to the bag (1-2 hop) with avg. strength for his level. At the plate, operated from a taller and relaxed stance. Loose hand load with a simple move/stride into launch. Barrel works direct and flattens out into contact. Avg. bat/hand speed for his level. Consistent out-front approach, pulled out a bit early at times with front side. On-barrel a good amount producing hard top spun liners to the pull side and a couple hard LDs back up the middle.
