Cody Welch is a 2027 1B/RHP/MIF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Denver, CO who attends Denver South. Tall and slender young build with lots of room to fill in and get stronger. 7.37 runner in the sixty. Primary first baseman on defense, gets in a good fundamental fielding position, clean glove actions, moves well laterally, makes all the plays, has some arm strength for the position, will be an asset on defense. Left handed hitter, sets up in a straight stance, loose and extended swing with some bat speed and lift out front, looks to pull and lift the ball, showed his power well in batting practice. Took a turn on the mound, has a well controlled delivery, gets downhill well with good extension to the plate, high 3/4's arm slot that created very good downhill angle to his pitches. Fastball topped out at 82 mph with some cutting action. Tended to slow his arm on a short slider, flashed a developing change up. Excellent student.
