Alexander Guzman is a 5'7" outfielder from Miami from the Class of 2006. He’s a backwards player in that he throws left handed but hits right handed. Guzman showed us a good variety of skills in Fort Myers. He plays much faster than his timed 7.02-60 speed and has plenty of range in the outfield and some base stealing ability. He's an above average MLB runner when adding the slow track into the equation. At the plate, Guzman has an aggressive, balanced swing with good hand action and the ability to drive the ball to all fields. He has more pop than you’d expect from a young hitter his size. In addition to his range in the outfield, Guzman had one of the quickest releases on his throws that we’ve seen all summer. His arm strength is fair to solid but he gets rid of the ball exceptionally quickly, which should discourage runners from taking the extra base if they’ve seen him play before. Alex is a good student.
