Bowen Akers is a 2029 C/RHP, 3B, SS with a 5-8 125 lb. frame from Carmel, IN who attends Carmel. Slender, developing frame with a high waist and plenty of room to physically mature. Recorded a 8.31 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary catcher that showed a developing defensive skill set with accurate throws up to 66 mph from behind the dish during drills. Gained some ground towards his target and a direct mid-line transfer into the throwing position. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Incorporates a belt high leg lift into balance, good lower half movements down the slope out to foot strike. Low-effort delivery with strike throwing ability and some sink to his fastball. Worked in the mid-to-upper 60s for the majority of his outing and topped out at 69 mph. Flashed a developing breaking ball with gradual depth and tilt to it, will continue to improve with proper mechanical adjustments and additional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hit from an even based stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and hanging leg lift trigger. Whole field approach with simple, repeatable stroke and plenty of components to like moving forward. Fundamentally sound skill set with plenty of physical upside and projection remaining, will continue to improve with additional strength and refinement.
