Samuel Smith is a 2026 SS/2B with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Gaffney, SC who attends Gaffney. Medium athletic build with lots of room to get stronger. 6.92 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has good first step quickness and moves to the ball well with good angles, controlled and balanced actions, pretty polished footwork, compact arm with some carry on his throws, overall actions play. Right handed hitter, sets up in a slightly open stance with a barrel wrap load, small lift and replace load, tends to stay on his back side, mostly opposite field contact, has the athleticism to improve as a hitter with mechanical adjustments. Also pitched, works from a full wind up with good tempo and consistency. Fastball topped out at 82 mph and was mostly straight. Threw both a slider and a curveball with the slider being the better pitch with some sharpness that created some swing and miss. Also flashed a firm change up. Strike thrower who is a good secondary arm. Excellent student.
