LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2024 Great Lakes Prospect Gateway
Infield:
- Showed clean glove actions with a feel to field the ball well. Continue to work on the transfer and footwork working into and through the fielding motion. He showed some lateral range but could stand to improve the footwork to be more fluid overall.
- He was accurate across the infield at 82 mph from multiple angles. Continue to focus on throws carrying through the first basemen's chest. Sustained momentum toward the target will help accomplish this. Good actions on the infield.
Outfield:
- Fields the ball with two hands as he works into it. Quick to get the ball out, but at some times, he's rushed to release. Focus on maintaining that momentum but also staying fluid with the actions through his release. Threw 83 mph during his reps in the outfield.
- He had tight backspin and good strength at release, showing good flight through release. Continue to refine footwork and stay directly working to the baseball and through it.
Hitting:
- A medium base with a big leg lift working into the swing, with an aggressive move forward. The weight shift is good, but focus on ensuring the weight shift is fluid enough to keep the operation connected and working through contact.
- Showed good bat speed and stayed behind it well. Focus on delivering the barrel on time to drive the ball where it's pitched. I.e., if a pitcher works away, you can deliver the barrel on time and work the other way with a good jump off the bat, etc.
- It showed good impacts during BP, working backside, and some flashes of backspin and loud impacts. Projectable actions in the batters' box with projection for more strength as he continues to age/mature.
Pitching:
- I showed uptempo actions working through release with a clean stroke. He threw from a three-quarters arm slot. Focus on repeating the delivery well to show repeatable actions and getting the job done once again.
- Throws upper-70s on the fastball with some arm-side run to it, continue to pound the zone and attack the strike zone early in counts. Breaker has good shape and depth with some feel to spin it.
- Projectable actions on the mound, with future improvements expected with age/maturity.
