Derrik Beckstrand is a 2027 1B/RHP with a 6-1 215 lb. frame from Elkhorn, WI who attends Elkhorn Area. He has a tall frame for his age and a thick build. Ran the 40-Yard Dash in 6.07 seconds. Primary first baseman that has good footwork in fielding the ball and around the base. He anticipates the ball well and works through it with his lower half. He does a nice job in getting his feet in line when turning the double play and made accurate feeds. His throws across the diamond had nice carry through the target. Secondary right-handed pitcher that features a knee to belt leg lift and does a nice job of working in line with the plate. He uses a long arm action and fires from a 3/4 slot. He has a slow motion that allows him to repeat his delivery well. His shoulder is loose and allows him to keep his fastball on plane through the zone. His curveball has 10/4 shape with shorter two plane break. His slider features primarily horizontal break and he showed good feel for the pitch. His changeup gives a different velocity look and had nice action through the zone. Left-handed hitter that starts in a wider base with high hands and a high back elbow. He has a shorter swing path to contact and lets the outer half pitches travel deep into the hitting zone. He does a nice job of getting on plane early and has a smooth swing through the zone.
