2025 Canes Baseball End of Summer Organizational Showcase
Ryder Thompson is a 2028 SS/RHP/OF with a 5-11 167 lb. frame from Pomaria, SC who attends Mid Carolina. Medium athletic build with the beginnings of some present strength. 7.12 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, showing quality glove work securing the ball crisply in the pocket. Emerging overall range with good feel for angles and showed nice dexterity on the tough slow roller play. More arm strength to come but still generated throws up to 82 mph across the diamond with solid accuracy. Reps in the OF, with similar footwork and mechanics to what we saw on the infield. Uses a shallow inline arm path and gets some run on feeds up to 83 mph here. Secondary RHP, using a full windup and belt high leg lift to gather before breaking into a high 3/4 arm angle. Works in a linear path down the slope and generates good energy from his base. Ran his FB up to 82 mph with riding action to the arm side and showed two off speed pitches as well. Sllider in the upper-60s with more spin to come and firm changeup with good sinking action as well. RHH working from a wider and slightly open stance, higher handset and some length in the front arm as he triggers. Small hanging leg lift to get on time and when extended showed some good carry to the pull side. Developing feel for the barrel but when on plane peppered hard line drives gap to gap. Broad skillset here, with a lot to look forward to and an outstanding student as well.
