LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2024 Northern California Prospect Gateway
Defense - OF - Showed some early aggressiveness in the approach but slows down noticeably into reception while also fielding it off to the side and deep but everything clean. Glove tap post reception which hurts some quickness and got off throws using a full/long arm action that were 1-2 hop accurate to the bag. I would work on maintaining that early aggressiveness into reception to create momentum into throws while also making your point of reception more out front of your body. - INF - Developing actions that look to profile to a corner spot in the future. Slower/heavier feet that stop into reception and field it flat footed. Glove was late in getting down on time and showed some stab to the backhand side. Glove tap before using a shorter arm action that showed limited the arm strength but made accurate throws across. I would challenge to work with more urgency and quickness just to gain that feel for working through the ball. Hitting - Open stance where he keeps his hands loose/relaxed with an upright barrel into launch. Early toe tap trigger. Tries to turn the barrel on a more uphill path. Kinda falls into contact without fully feeling the ground which hurts timing. Head pulls out showing some effort and pull out to the swing. Did flash some quickness to the hands. - I would try to simplify the lower half in terms of getting the foot down early with plenty of time. I would also recommend loading the barrel into a flatter launch instead of as upright which might cause some of the uphillness of the swing along with maybe an internal cue of working more direct with the hands to the baseball to help correct some path issues.
