Jack Thornton is a 2026 1B/RHP with a 6-1 235 lb. frame from Byron Center, MI who attends Caledonia. Large, broad shouldered frame with present strength throughout. Ran an 8.90 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front with two hands and works into a longer arm action, moves well on feet away from the bag, accurate throws to the intended base from a lower slot. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, drop and drive lower half mechanics with a medium length arm stroke working to a three-quarters release. Worked around the zone well with fastball, up to 74 mph with some sinking life when located down. Curveball flashed 12-6 shape up to 69 mph and mixed a splitter with late tumble at 71 mph. Right-handed hitter, begins with a spread stance and a lower hand set and back elbow in the box; gathers weight onto backside and utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing. Employs a line drive approach and shows a feel for the barrel, can impact the ball off the barrel when squared, longer path through the zone with extension out front, best contact to the middle of the field. Very good student.
