Cruz Hinkle is a 2027 SS/RHP with a lean, athletic 5-11 169 lb. frame from Layton, UT who attends Layton HS. Started off the event clocking a 7.94 60-yard dash. A primary shortstop that pitches as well. Defensively, Hinkle worked around ground balls well when his feet were in-sync. Still developing consistent glove timing. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes a traditional even base and shift of weight on the backside. Swings on a direct path with extension out front. Approach is geared toward the pull side and can drive balls with backspin when weight stays over the backside. Right-handed pitcher, 3-pitch mix. Uses slight drop and drive mechanics into an inline landing spot. Throws from a high 3/4 slot using a shorter arm action and decent arm speed. Fastball sat 74-77. Curveball at 61 showing slurvy action. Can create quality depth with the changeup. Excellent student.
