2025 PG Midwest Indoor Showcase
Ryland Nowak is a 2028 SS/RHP with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Depere, WI who attends De Pere. Medium young build with lots of room and time to get stronger. 7.34 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense. Showed developing INF actions. Works low to the ground and presents the glove well. Gets a bit too deep into knees at times fielding it flat footed. Avg. footspeed but they worked light in its movements. Used a shorter arm action that got off accurate throws across with avg. strength for his level. At the plate, operated from a relaxed and taller stance with loose hands. Uses a simple lower-half move where he tips the barrel slightly at launch. Hands throw a direct barrel at entry that then flattens a bit into contact and cuts across at finish. On-barrel a majority of his round showing some feel/accuracy for the barrel. Avg. bat/hand speed and strength at impact. Best contact were hard LDs he sent through the middle of the field. Some early exit and rollover of the barrel when he caught it too out front. On the mound, showed a simple operation. Slower/methodical mover but repeats well. Side steps into a mid chest knee tuck with smaller drop in driveleg getting into some early push off the rubber. Creates decent length down the mound landing slightly closed. Medium arm action where the arm extends out towards 2nd and works to a normal 3/4 slot. Creates some quality extension at release. FB worked into the mid-upper 70s that exhibited natural running action. Mixed in an upper 60s curveball and changeup. Curveball showed slurvy shape where he slowed down his arm speed a bit. Changeup flashed quality depth with minimal fade.
