Lucas Shepard is a 2028 C/1B, 3B with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Spring, TX who attends Grand Oaks. Medium current frame with good projection and the opportunity to really add overall physicality. Ran the 60 yard dash in 9.01 seconds. Primary position catcher, with a high initial stance and stationary footwork before transition. Firm glove work leading to tighter midline transfer. Showed some quick feet once into transfer to throw. Room to refine arm action and mechanics with emerging arm strength translating to feeds up to 55 mph and pop-time best 2.95 seconds to the bag. Young athlete with a lot of opportunity to refine game. RHH working with a medium and even stance and good handset well balanced pre-pitch. Loads gently into back side to load using toe-tap trigger to get started. Steep attack angle to impact with some length to the swing. Feel for the barrel coming on with plenty of time to add strength to impact with hands. Outstanding student as well.
