Matthew McCarthy is a 2027 RHP/MIF/OF with a 5-9 140 lb. frame from Albany, NY who attends Albany. Recorded a 5.04 40-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher with a lean frame and room for strength. Begins delivery with a leg lift to core level, landing on line at foot strike. Good athleticism on the bump and released from a high-3/4 slot. Fastball topped at 82 mph. Showed a nice curveball with tight spin and 11-5 to 12-6 shape. Good shape and depth on the pitch and exhibited great feel to land it for strikes. Also mixed in changeup with depth as well as a tight and more firm slider. Full repertoire and ability to mix well. Secondary infielder and showed some quickness to actions with carry and big arm strength across the diamond. Also worked out in the outfield and displayed athleticism and throws up to 87 mph in workouts. Right-handed hitter and starts from a medium base with even feet and a high back elbow. Rotational upper half and overall simple swing mechanics. Produced contact to the middle and opposite field during the round. Hands driven swing and swings with a lot of intent. Excellent student.
