2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
John is a 2005 grad from Rancho Bernardo High School for Southern California who is an AFLAC All-American and who we've seen repeatedly over the past year. He has a solid strong muscular build, thick well defined thru out. John plays the game how it should be played, the "old school" way, with lots of heart and hustle. At the plate, John shows very good raw power from the left side and the kind of consistent contact ability that should equal quality numbers for both average and home runs. He hit one long home run to right field during this showcase but shouldn't be the type of hitter who concentrates on power because it will come naturally. John's other tools aside from his hitting are top notch. He's a very good runner who gets excellent jumps in the outfield and on the bases. His arm strength is big league calibur for right field. Overall, John is a potential high draft pick this year and definite high profile college player at UCLA for the next 3 years if he decides to go that route. This is a real player!
