Joseph Ezekiel is a 2005 from Lake Worth, FL. Ezekiel is a big, broad shouldered young right handed pitcher who is about at his physical peak as far as size and maturity go. He throws a sinking fastball that is consistently at 81 mph and topped out at 83 mph and does a good job of spotting it low in the strike zone. Ezekiel could gain some more velocity right away with more use of his lower half in his delivery. Ezekiel’s best pitch was a 69-70 mph curveball that had hard downer biting action and made more than a couple of hitters buckle their knees. He also threw a couple of 70 mph change ups. Ezekiel cruised through four innings of work, getting ahead of most hitters while allowing only one hit and striking out five. He also handled the bat well, getting a couple of base hits in games with a short, line drive swing that uses his hand strength well. Like his pitching delivery, Ezekiel gets little use out of his lower half while hitting and could develop some big time power if he did. He's an interesting prospect and a top level student.
