2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Thomas is a multi-talented player who flashed Big League ability on the hill as well as in the field. As an infielder he showed good mobility, athleticism and a sure glove. He excelled at third base and showed above average MLB corner arm strength. He hit the ball back in the zone and can punish it with wood. On the hill he was potentially more interesting. He showed a good working arm out of a 3/4 slot and cruised with a lively 86-88 mph fastball and a hard 78 mph 2-plane curve. He showed a curveball with a more down break in the low 70's but the hard slurve was the top pitch. Pitching on the last day in the last game in the hot conditions makes us think there is even more strength in that arm. We heard reports of better than 90 mph on him and we now see the potential he has to throw with that type of velocity. He is a plus make-up player with a serious arm.
