Matthew Zoltak is a 2006 LHP from Plymouth Whitemarsh HS in Philadelphia, PA, with a 5'11", 175 lb. frame. He's a good overall athlete who can play the outfield and swing the bat with some pop in addition to pitching. Zoltak has a fast paced windup and a tight, quick arm action. His fastball topped out at 89 mph and he shows the ability to manage the velocity, command and movement on his fastball depending on what he wants to do with the pitch. He gets good running action away from right handers when he throws his 2-seamer. Zoltak's best pitch is his mid-70's slurve. It has very good, tight spin and bite and the velocity up to 78 mph has hitters guessing. Like his fastball, Zoltak can pitch in and out with his curveball and use it effectively early in the count. He also throws a pretty good upper 70's change up. Zoltak is a polished pitcher with a very sound idea of how to pitch and plenty of stuff to get hitters out. We also like his take charge attitude on the mound. He's committed to Clemson.
