Davies is a 5-11 junior right handeded pitcher from Florida. He is a strong athlete, particularly in the lower half, who looks like he’s worked hard on improving his physical strength. He does need to work some on his flexibility. Davies throws from a deceptive, herky-jerky delivery and works quickly and throws strikes. His fastball is in the upper 70’s and he gets lots of boring and sinking action with it. Davies’s curveball is a nice pitch at times in the lower 60’s; it has sharp 12/6 downer bite down in the zone. Davies also showed some potential as a hitter. His strength creates some bat speed and the ball comes off the bat well. Davies had a couple of good game hits the day he wasn’t pitching and was playing third base. Better rhythm into and through the ball would enable him to take better advantage of his strength. Davies is a good student.
