Hargrove is a medium build but still projectable pitcher who has the ability to throw quality pitches from a number of different arm angles. He has a slow, deliberate, balanced delivery to the top, then will come through anywhere from mid to low ¾’s to sidearm on his pitches. Hargrove will throw his mid ¾’s fastball in the 85-87 mph range, but will get more run and sink on the pitch from lower arm angles in the low 80’s. His 77-79 mph slider has some sharp, late breaking action when he gets on top of it but the consistency will suffer as he gets lower with the release point. Hargrove’s change up is a pretty good offering at 74 mph. The key with Hargrove will be to develop the consistency and understanding of what his pitches do from different release points, especially how the hitters react to them. He shows good command of all his pitches and really knows what he's doing on the mound. He should end up being a impact pitcher at a highest level college program. Ricky is a good student.
