Fineman has a very nice pitcher’s body at 6-3, 190 lbs with a loose arm in back and it looks like he could have pretty good velocity. He throws with a very deliberate delivery, though, that uses very little of his lower half. Fineman is what scout’s often call a “poser” because they are so deliberate and seemingly concerned with mechanics over generating arm speed. Fineman’s fastball was 77-79 mph in Chapel Hill but there’s more there, no doubt. His 71 mph change was an effective pitch that had hitters consistently lunging and Fineman also threw a good 73 mph curveball. We’d love to see him just rare back and fire the ball and see what happens. His size and the velocity on the breaking ball dictate a lot more velocity in his fastball. He's only an "05" so he projects very well! Ben is a good student.
