Ryan Butner is a 2006 right handed pitcher from Davie, FL with a tall lean build at 6-4, 155 lbs. He throws from a low 3/4's arm slot with a high leg kick and a very fast, loose arm. Butner's fastball is up to 90 mph and he gets very good running action from his low release point. Butner throws two types of breaking balls in the upper 70's. One is a sharp, big breaking curveball with a lot of depth to it. The other is a shorter, crisper pitch with more of a slider break. Both are quality pitches. Butner also threw an 81 mph change up that had good deception on it. Butner is a very fast worker on the mound who has four quality pitches and an idea of how to use them. His pitchability has taken huge strides in the last year and he was in complete command on the mound. Butner is never going to be a big man with his narrow frame but he should get stronger in the future. He's a high ceiling prospect who can pitch right now. Butner is also a good student and has committed to Tennessee.
