Scott Schmitt is a 2005 catcher/third baseman from Tonica, Illinois, with a 5'8", 160 lb. frame. Defensively, he has very good arm strength with a short arm action, and his throws were on line with good carry. With a little work on his transfer time, Schmitt's pop times should get below 2.00 with his arm strength. His footwork behind the plate was solid, and he received the ball well. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with good balance and strong hands. Schmitt has solid bat speed, and is a line drive hitter with projectable college power. He starts with his hands forward in his stance, but gets them in position well at contact. Schmitt is an athletic catcher with good arm strength. Scott is a good student.
