Shawn Tolleson is a 2006 RHP from Allen HS in Fairview HS, with a 6'2", 220 lb. frame. He has a very strong lower half and resembles another Dallas native, the Rockies Jason Jennings. Tolleson throws from a tuck and drive delivery that hides the ball well and maximizes his lower half strength. His arm is very fast through release. Tolleson's fastball is 90-92 mph and had bat breaking late life to it. It's a very heavy pitch that's hard to hit and especially hard to lift. Tolleson's slider is just as good of pitch, topping out at 84 mph with a very tight, late break. Tolleson is a very aggressive pitcher who goes right after hitters with power stuff on the plate. He made some of the best hitters in the country look pretty futile at the plate and there might not be a better pitcher in the 2006 class if you want to win a game right now than Tolleson. He's not especially projectable but he has two present Major League pitches and an excellent approach to pitching. Tolleson is a very good student who has committed to Jennings' alma mater, Baylor.
