Anthony (AJ) Balta is a 2013 OF/2B with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Valencia, CA who attends Valencia HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength. 6.84 runner, very sound outfield fundamentals, very good footwork, quick exchange and release, on line accurate throws, charges hard and is aggressive to the ball. Can also play second base at the next level, good hands, feet work well, arm strength solid. Left handed hitter, spread straight stance, short quick swing, stays inside the ball well, line drive contact to all fields, high average approach, can fight off tough pitches. Versatile overall athlete with good approach to the game. Good student, verbal commitment to Oregon.
