2006 National Showcase
Tyler Mann is a 2007 left hand hitting outfielder from Princess Anne HS, residing in Virginia Beach, VA. He has a long, lean, sinewy strong build on a plus 6'2" 190 lb. frame that looks a bit longer than that listing. He should continue to grow into his body and has a chance to really emerge this coming spring as a top round prospect. Mann flashes that much ability and was ranked #68 among PG National Top 100 position players. Just setting up at the plate Mann looks like a player. He starts with an open stance, with hands held high. His plate coverage is good and he is aggressive to the ball. Mann has good bat speed and hands that work well, sometimes very well. He swings with balance and has good timing. The ball at times comes off Mann's bat very well, providing glimpses of his future power, which is above average. He could be a monster bat waiting to happen. In the field he is a good athlete and a solid corner outfielder type. His arm is probably best suited for left field, but his range is good for either corner. Mann ran 4.50 home/1st with a 7.14 60 that could actually get lower in the coming years as he adds power and explosiveness to his core area. Most of what he is and does is quite projectable, including his body. Mann is a good D1 prospect that likely would make a big impact by his sophomore year but he is also a solid projection type professional prospect. He would seem best suited to go to college and give himself the chance to develop into an upper round talent in a few years.
